Questions and answers

What is the MCLastoria server IP?

The address is play.MCLastoria.com. Add it under Multiplayer, Add Server in Minecraft: Java Edition. There is no whitelist and no application, so you can connect straight away. The joining guide has the three steps in full.

What Minecraft version do I need?

Java Edition 1.21.2 or newer. 26.2 is recommended and is the version everything on the server is built and tested on. Anything older than 1.21.2 is refused at the door.

Is MCLastoria pay to win?

No, and it is written into the rules rather than left to judgement. Nothing you can buy gives you a combat or gameplay advantage. Flight and vanish were deliberately removed from every paid rank, cosmetics carry no stat bonuses, and crates contain no diamonds, no enchanted gear, no XP and no money. A paying player and a free player who put in the same hours end up in the same place.

The one purchase that touches gameplay is a server-wide boost, which doubles Jobs money or mcMMO XP for everyone online, with the buyer's name on the announcement.

Can I get griefed?

Outside a claim, yes. PvP, griefing and stealing are all fair game on unclaimed land, because this is a conquest server. Inside a town claim or a donor plot your builds are protected except during a declared war, and every block broken in a war is rolled back automatically when peace is made.

Chests are a separate protection. A chest lock beats Towny entirely, so even a mayor cannot open a locked chest in their own town, and every player gets at least one lock for free.

Where can I build safely without paying?

Join a town. Town claims protect their residents' builds and joining one is free, which is why the new player guide tells you to join a town rather than found one on your first evening. Founding a town also works, and a town cannot be declared on until it is 7 days old and has 3 residents.

What are the two cities?

Lastoria is the capital, wrapped around spawn. Cirrastia is the second city, with a moat, ships moored inside the walls, airships overhead and a clocktower at its centre. Both are hand built, and both are permanent safe zones with PvP off, no mob spawning and nothing you can break. They are also drawn on the live map, so you can walk them from a browser before you ever log in.

How do I make money?

Jobs, on your first day. Run /jobs browse and join two or three. After that, voting pays $25 a site, chest shops let you sell to other players, and the auction house reaches the whole server without you standing at a shop. Completed auction sales are taxed 10%, which is the server's main money sink.

What is the resource world?

A separate 5,000 by 5,000 mining world with its own nether, wiped and regenerated on the 1st of every month so the permanent world never turns into a moonscape. Get in through the portal in the spawn castle. Nothing can be claimed there, PvP is on, and everything in it is deleted on reset, so do not leave anything in a chest at the end of the month.

Are the dungeons randomly generated?

No. Every dungeon is hand built by staff in the live world, stocked with custom MythicMobs bosses, and reset on a timer so the next group gets the same fight you did. Some are solo, some need a party within a set size range, and some are donor only. The sign at each entrance shows its requirements and whether it is ready. Full detail is in the dungeon runs guide.

What are Ancient Coins?

A second currency that only drops from dungeons. You cannot buy them and you cannot craft them. Most bosses drop Ancient Coins and the largest ones drop Dragon Hoard Coins, worth ten times as much. Both are spent at the Coin Shop on crate keys and cosmetics. See the coins guide.

How do town wars work?

A mayor declares on another town, or both sides agree to one. There is a grace period before fighting goes live. While the war runs, attackers can break defender blocks, but nothing drops, and every broken block is rolled back when peace is made. There is exactly one way to win: plant a war banner inside the defending town and hold it uncontested. Beating a bigger town pays up to 2.5×, and farming a much smaller one pays as little as 0.25×. The town wars guide has the commands and the war ladder.

Can my town stay out of wars?

Yes. Going peaceful costs a $250 daily peace tax and gives up the +16 bonus claim blocks that war-open towns get, and being open to war earns a $150 daily stipend to the town bank. Switching to peaceful takes 24 hours to take effect, so you cannot dodge a declaration you can see coming. Opting back in is instant.

How do I get a rank without paying?

Five earned ladders have been scoring you since the day you joined: Dungeons, Towns, Mastery, Trade and War. Thirty-four titles across them, and not one is for sale. Type /rank to see all five at once and pick which title you wear. Crossing a tier pays out on the spot with crate keys, extra homes, extra auction slots, a vault, warps and particle effects. See earned ranks.

Do donor ranks expire?

No. Every rank is a one-time payment and it is yours permanently. Your vault room is never taken back automatically either, even if something about your rank changes, and it stays assigned to you until a staff member frees it by hand.

How long does a purchase take to arrive?

Usually under a minute. Ranks apply themselves with no staff step and no queue. Enter your exact Minecraft username at checkout, since that is how the rank finds you, then run /discord link in game to get your Discord role. If nothing has landed after a few minutes, open a ticket with your transaction ID.

Do I need mods to play?

No. Nothing is required and no resource pack is forced on you. If you want better performance and a better-looking game, the client setup guide walks through Modrinth and the Fabulously Optimized modpack in about fifteen minutes.

Is there a Discord?

Yes, and it is where questions get answered fastest. Founding a town automatically creates it a private text channel, a voice channel and a role, and residents get the role as they join. Run /discord link in game once so the server knows which Discord account is yours. Join the Discord.

Is there anything for just being online?

Every four hours of active play earns a Naturalist crate key, and it repeats for as long as you keep playing. Idle time does not count. Stand still for five minutes and the clock stops, so leaving a client running overnight earns exactly nothing. Check with /playtime.
